It was time to compete again.

Jackson opted out of running Cross Country at the collegiate level in order to focus on his academics. But it's not like he stopped running! He started training again, focusing less on longer distances in preparation for running some sprints.

The 2019 Outdoor Track Season

Jackson is running unattached in the 2019 Outdoor Track season. He hopes to post some competitive collegiate Freshman times in a few different events.

04/20/2019 - MSJ Invitational (Mt. St. Joseph University)

With the temperature in the mid-40s, spitting rain and a wet track, conditions were less than ideal. Still, Jackson won his heat and the 400 Meter over all.

The 2020 Indoor Track Season is...?

Jackson was set to run for Northern Kentucky University for the 2020 Indoor and Outdoor Track Seasons. Until the COVID-19 pandemic hit and cancelled the entire outdoor season.

12/07/2019 - Mastodon Open (Indiana Purdue - Fort Wayne)

In the first outing of the season, Jackson ran the 600 Meter event and beat NKU's 10 year old school record by over four seconds. His finishes contributed 8 points to the team's total of 29.

03/11/2020 - The World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic

03/12/2020 - The NCAA canceled the Division I basketball tournament and all remaining Winter and Spring sports championships.

The first outdoor meet had been scheduled for March 20th, 2020. That meet and every subsequent meet was canceled.

Collegiate Outdoor Track Accomplishments

  • Won his first two 400 Meter events outright--without using starting blocks

Jackson ran the 400 Meter Dash at the Mount Saint Joseph University Invitational on Easter weekend. It was a cold, rainy day and the track was puddled and slick. On top of that, Jackson had been fighting off being sick all week and wasn't 100%. He had lane 7 and there was no one in lane 8, so he couldn't gauge how he was doing against the rest of the field. Still, he pulled off a win, besting second place by three-quarters of a second.

400 Meter Dash:  0:51.56

Another School Record!

At the Horizon League Indoor Championships, Jackson put in an unofficial 50-flat in the 4x400 Relay and the relay team posted a new school record for Northern Kentucky University.

The team, consisting of Liam Ehrman, Cody Chism, Jackson Coates and Sam Slocum, ran a 3:23.10 and shattered the old record by over seven seconds!

The previous record was set in 2019 with a time of 3:30.24.

Jackson ran the Men's 800 Meter Dash in 1:59.62, just a half-second slower than his best posted time.

The Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at the University of Cincinnati, April 1-2 2022

Jackson ran the Men's 400 Meter Dash in 50.27. He won his heat and was fourth overall, netting five points for the NKU team and besting the previous new school record by 0.2 seconds
